Instead of tacking this onto the end of this thread, I decided to go ahead a make a new thread.

But, you can bypass the solution file for now altogether. Get a clean 0-6-6 download, and instead of opening the vcfAllProjects_vc71.sln file, open the vcfAllProjects_vc71.dsw file, and when it asks to recreate the projects, let it do so. Then you should be able to build no problem.

Just did a fresh checkout.
Visual Studio version 7.0.9466.
Opening "build/vc70/vcfAllProjects_vc70.dsw" starts with the following error.

The project Actions_vc70.dsp needs to be converted to the Visual C++ 7.0 project format.

Do you want to convert?

[ Yes ] [ No ] [ Yes to all ] [ No to all ]

Pressing "yes" gives this error:

Cannot load the project due to a currupt project file.

[ OK ] [Help]

Pressing "ok" gives this:

Project 'C:\cygwin\home\Adimistrator\vcf\exampels\Actions\Actions_vc70.dsp' failed to open

[ OK ]

Followed by:

The project file 'C:\cygwin\home\Adimistrator\vcf\exampels\Actions\Actions_vc70.dsp' cannot be loaded. Do you want to remove the unloadable project fromt the solution?

[ Yes ] [ No ]
.

ad anuseum for every single project (i usually end up killing the ide in the task manager).

So, I try the opening vcfAllProjects_vc70.sln, which loads 84 projects successfully. I scroll down, right-click on "vcfAllLibs" and select "Set as Starup Project". Then right-click again and select "Build". And I get this:

------ Skipped Build: Project: FoundationKitDLL, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------

Project configuration skipped because it is not selected in this solution configuration

<snip>

------ Build started: Project: vcfAllLibs, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------

vcfAllLibs - up-to-date.

---------------------- Done ----------------------

Build: 1 succeeded, 0 failed, 22 skipped

Same VC, Windows 2000 5.00.2195 SP2.

I have Same VC, Windows 2000 5.00.2195 SP3
So maybe you need to go to SP3
I tried both in debug and release, no problems.

Personally I hate the new dev studio.

No kidding...I don't even use it except to build VCF. I use cygwin and make to build my project.

I made an addins to compile together all the projects I want while disabling their Configuration Manager and other smart features' which makes me content enough. I got more than one year to get used to 3 or 4 incredibly-stupid-decision-maybe-there-just-to-frustrate-people tipical of brainless-we-are-so-intelligent Microsoft's programmers.
